An Important Message from American Water
This is an important notification from Pennsylvania American Water. Please share the following message with properties associated with your meter:
The company is making a temporary change in our water treatment process from March 14 through April 25 as a part of our routine distribution system maintenance.
On March 14, we are switching treatment to a form of chlorine known as “free chlorine,” which does not contain ammonia. This disinfectant is used with flushing water mains and fire hydrants. During the temporary treatment change, customers may experience a more noticeable chlorine taste or odor in their water. There is no reason for concern. This temporary condition is due to the switch in disinfectant types. On April 25, we will return to chloramine; the disinfectant typically used to treat your water. If you have a health care need that requires purified or filtered water, you should reach out to your healthcare provider with any questions.
